Message From the General Manager

Dear Members and Guests,

While it seems like the majority of schools have an academic calendar that begins earlier and earlier in August, I still think of September as the real month for “back-to-school,” which then rolls right into the official start of autumn. It’s a great time of year, but I would love to see everyone improve in one important area: Fitness. I know we have.

Picture springtime for a moment and you remember how people always get so excited. You have warmer weather, added daylight, and the ability to be more active so you can get in shape for the summer.

When the kids go back to school, I’m always afraid that without the built-in motivation of being at the beach or the pool, people spend more time inside watching a new season of TV and merely slide their fitness goals to the following spring. As you can imagine, we’d like to change that pattern.

If you’ve never been to our Club, now is the time. And if you’re already a Member, I invite you to join us in the excitement of the Grand Opening of our pool. Along with this exciting addition, we’re working hard to enhance your wellness experience. Take a look at some of the new Group Exercise classes:

AMPED! - a circuit style, athletic conditioning class that will take you to your limit. Incorporating up to 4 Tabata intervals with TRX, kettlebells, and old school body weight exercises, you will see maximum results in half the time. Increase your strength, power and cardio capacity in 45 minutes or less. All ability levels are welcome; the training method is all about finding YOUR edge and taking it to the next level! Are you ready?

TRI - IT ....   a great class to give everything a try! If you're looking for a quick dose of cardio, strength and flexibility, this is your class. You will receive a quick cardio blast to start the class. While the class is not highly choreographed,  instructors will use either floor based fitness drills, BOSU balance trainers or steps to train your heart and lungs. Then, a section of strength training will target all of your major muscle groups to help you kick your metabolism into high gear. Finally, spend at least 10 minutes working on flexibility and balance work to round out your workout. Whether your main interest is getting everything you need in under and hour or you like your workouts to change each week, Tri-It is the class for you!

STAR Treatment -- Short & Sweet Toning Abs & Relaxation. 15 minutes to complete your indoor cycling experience. Everyone knows that cycling, whether indoor or outdoor, wreaks havoc on your body in unique ways. While riding is virtually non-impact and easy on the joints, our posture is compromised and several muscles are overworked and underpaid! Tack on a quick 15 minute workout right beside your bike (that's right, you don't even have to leave the cycling studio) to target your lower body, restore your posture and flexibility, as well as a quick fix ab routine to strengthen your riding. And, because you're a STAR, you'll receive something special from time to time just for showing up.

CORE OFF THE FLOOR ... Lying down is only ONE way to work your midsection. In this 15 or 30 minute quick fix class, you won't even take out a mat. Utilizing unique tools such as the TRX, kettlebells, BOSU Ballast Balls, BOSU Balance Trainers, medicine balls and tubing, you will take your core training to the next level. Not only are the exercises effective, but they are functional; teaching you to ‘use momentum to your advantage’ and operate standing up which you do every day. Learn exercises that are multi-planar, multi-directional and multi-effective. Not only will you experience a great core workout, you will also experience strength and endurance gains with a side of sweat.

VIVA LA DIVA ... when fun and fitness meet on the dance floor, you get Viva La Diva! A dance class for everyone that incorporates popular dance moves with everyday cardio to strengthen your heart, lungs, legs and more. No dance experience required as all choreography is easy to pick up, repeated for you to 'own' it and very user friendly. The workout will allow you to escape for an hour, unleash your inner diva and dance like no one's watching all while participating in a non-stop cardio class that will leave you toned from head to toe!

We also are bringing back Lil Yoga for the kids! This class starts Sept 13th at 3:45.

Think of September as a time to get back into fitness and to educate your body. Summer may be over, but we’re just heating up.

In good health,

Jill Shusterman
