This dynamic flow yoga class is set to music with the focus on breath, alignment, balance and core strengthening. The class takes place in a studio approximately 85-95 degrees. This enables the body to warm up more quickly and therefore stretch a bit further. Power Vinyasa - Power Vinyasa heals, detoxifies and exhilarates the body and mind with emphasis on movement, balance and intention. Connecting the body to the mind and spirit, through intense flow and Ujjaiy breathing techniques, this is a great class for students who are ready to take the next step in their Yoga practice. Power Yoga is traditionally a more vigorous, fitness-based approach to Vinyasa Yoga that emphasizes strength, flexibility and flow. Students are recommended to start in a Form and Fundamental or Alignment class before attending Power Vinyasa. This dynamic flow yoga class is set to music with the focus on breath, alignment, balance and core strengthening. The class can take place in a studio approximately 80-85 degrees. This enables the body to warm up more quickly and therefore stretch a bit further.
Baptiste Power Vinyasa - This style of practice is unique in that it gives great emphasis to the principle of adaptation. Meaning, each practitioner can adapt, modify and make each posture and each part of the practice, their own. The entire emphasis and practice of the Baptiste style of yoga is to challenge you to experience a transformation, but starting from where YOU are presently and then steadily building to a place that allows you to authentically experience the yogic rewards of being stronger, more supple, relaxed, and generally less tense. (Room may be heated to 85 degrees).
Ashtanga Short Forms - This particular system of Yoga is derived from the teachings of K. Pattabhi Jois, the director and founder of the Ashtanga Yoga Reserach Institute in Mysore, India. The First or Primary series, called Yoga Chikitsa, is described in Yoga Mala. Yoga Chikitsa, which means yoga therapy, realigns the spine, detoxifies the body, and builds strength, flexibility and stamina. The series of about 75 poses takes an hour and a half to two hours to complete, beginning with sun salutations (surya namaskara A and surya namaskara B) and moving on to standing poses, seated poses, inversions and backbends before relaxation. The Short Forms practice is designed to allow the "time-challenged" to have a practice available which may fit into the tightest of schedules.
Hot Yoga - This yoga series is based on the Bikram Method available to all levels. Beginners welcome! Veterans challenged! Bring a towel and some water and be prepared to sweat. Class is done a heated room, maintained at the body's temperature of 98 degrees. The practice detoxifies the body and clears the mind. Hot yoga builds strength, stamina, flexibility and balance.
Yin Yoga - Suitable for almost all levels of students, Yin Yoga is a restorative practice and a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga that emphasize internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of muscles. Yin Yoga directs the stimulation deeper than the superficial muscular tissues and targets the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones and even joints of the body.
